Installation of AMI meters in the Hattiesburg area is scheduled to begin next week as crews are wrapping up work in the Coastal Division.

More than 132,000 meters have been installed in the Meridian and Coast areas, with about 90 percent of those meters in production.

“We are starting installation in Hattiesburg in the areas that have the heaviest workload,” AMI Project Manager Donna Corr said. “Our Pine Belt employees have listened to the success stories shared across the company and are ready for us to begin.”

Since the advanced meters were put into service in May of this year, more than 17,000 truck rolls have been avoided.

“The process is working exactly as we planned,” Corr said. “Our technology partners are ensuring we hit all of our integration deadlines on time and under budget. Tommy Castanedo and our Supply Chain organization have been exceptional with meter logistics. And NextGen is doing a top rate job of keeping their staffing level high as we move closer to the finish line.”
