Mississippi Power’s Environmental Stewardship Council and the Community Connection employee volunteer program recently were recognized by Keep Mississippi Beautiful for their work in delivering cleaner, greener communities.
The Environmental Stewardship Council repeated as the first-place winner of the Business/Industry Award, while Community Connection placed third in that category.
“Our company is a committed environmental steward in the 53 communities we serve from Meridian to the Gulf Coast,” said Senior Environmental Specialist Patrick Chubb. “The Environmental Stewardship Council actively engages employees in projects that restore and enhance our natural resources, which improves the quality of life of those in our communities.”
This recognition is for the corporate support of programs like Renew Our Rivers, environmental stewardship grants and education mini-grants, among others.
Community Connection was honored for its employee grassroots effort to raise money and execute service projects that focus on litter prevention, beautification and community improvement.
“Our employee volunteers give generously of their time to make the places where we live, work and play cleaner and brighter,” said Community Development Specialist Tracy Yanez. “We are making a difference in the communities we serve.”
Keep Mississippi Beautiful also presents awards in the Government category and the Youth Group/School division.
The awards were presented during a luncheon in Jackson.
