Monday – 8:45 p.m. update

As of 8:30 p.m. Monday night, nearly 47,000 Mississippi Power customers made their refund selection of a check or bill credit.

“Whether it was on the phone at our Customer Service Center or in one of our local offices across the 23 counties we serve, our employees once again demonstrated their commitment to customer service,” Jeff Shepard, Mississippi Power spokesman, said. “We personally interacted with more than 15,000 customers today.”

Nearly 32,200 customers made their selection online by visiting mississippipower.com/refund. Another 14,600 spoke with a customer service representative in a local office or by calling our 24/7 customer service line at 1-800-532-1502.

“In anticipation of heavy traffic in offices and on the phone, Mississippi Power added personnel to answer questions and help customers select the option that was best for them,” Shepard said.

Monday – 4:30 p.m. update

As of 4:30 p.m. Monday afternoon, nearly 39,000 Mississippi Power customers made their Kemper refund selection of a bill credit or refund check.

More than 12,400 have spoken with a customer service representative on the phone or in person in a local office, while another approximately 26,500 have signed up using the online tool at mississippipowernews.com/refund.

“As you can imagine we are having an extremely busy day and our customers are doing exactly what we’ve asked them to do and let us know their option,” said Nicole Faulk, Mississippi Power’s vice president of Customer Services Organization. “We do ask for customers’ patience because we are getting a lot of calls to our Customer Service Center and visits at the local offices. But please remember, today is not the only day to let us know your choice. You can contact us any time between now and October 30.”

More than 8,600 refund related calls have been taken by Mississippi Power customer service representatives.

Monday – 11:30 a.m. update

Starting early Monday morning, Mississippi Power customers lined up, dialed up and went online to make their request for a Kemper refund.

Just a few minutes after 9 a.m. on the first day of the Kemper refund election period, more than 10,000 customers contacted Mississippi Power to voice their choice for a bill credit or refund check.

By about 11:30 a.m., those numbers had increased to more than 6,400 by customer service representatives and nearly 16,400 online.

“The calls have been non-stop, but very positive. Our customers have been excited to hear their refund amounts and our reps continue to provide world class service to each and every caller,” said Ronnie Page, call center manager.

While early morning callers were taking up all 142 lines at times, customers were waiting outside for offices to open before 8 a.m.

“It’s been as busy as expected, with the line outside the doors being double what we would normally have,” said Tahsha Lee, customer service manager in Meridian. “But our employees and the customers have both been positive about the experience.”
