Customers in the Rolling Meadows area of Gulfport gathered this week at the Isiah Fredericks Community Center to learn more about how they could benefit from Mississippi Power’s Neighborhood Efficiency Program.
The program identifies neighborhoods throughout Mississippi Power’s service territory eligible to receive a free in-home energy audit by a trained professional. It is designed to educate customers on simple, low-cost ways to save money and energy.
“Mississippi Power is currently offering home energy audits and direct installation of energy-saving measures at no cost to customers in Rolling Meadows,” energy efficiency team leader Ben Doughman said to Rolling Meadows residents at the kick off event.
Community Development Representative Frank Magee welcomed customers and expressed the importance of programs like these.
Gulfport Councilwoman Ella Holmes Hines encouraged residents to look around and be aware of their neighbors who were not able to attend the kickoff event. She advised them to spread the word about the program, which will benefit residents in their neighborhood.
“The Neighborhood Efficiency Program benefits low income residents who can’t afford to have some of this stuff done,” said Councilman Kenneth “Truck” Casey. “We appreciate Mississippi Power coming in to assist us with these different programs.”
