It might have been a bicycle for a child in Meridian, a new pair of boots for a girl in Hattiesburg, or a football for a boy on the Coast.
Whatever the case, Mississippi Power volunteers helped Christmas wishes come true for hundreds of families enrolled in the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program.

“We look forward to being able to help out in situations like this, to children who wouldn’t otherwise have a good Christmas,” said Mississippi Power Meridian district manager Verdell Hawkins.

Company volunteers in the Meridian district presented a lot of bikes to the Salvation Army last week, while volunteers on the Coast and in the Pine Belt helped distribute presents to qualified families.

“We’ll have the privilege of seeing all the smiles off of all their hard work, but we appreciate them, their commitment, their dedication, and especially their caring for this community,” said Major Glenn Riggs of the Salvation Army branch in Meridian.
