Geter named director of corporate communication

Gulfport, Miss. – Amoi Geter has been named director of corporate communication for Mississippi Power.

In this role she will be responsible for internal and external communication strategy, including employee and executive communication, customer communication, advertising and digital media, media relations and public safety communication.

“Having supported communications efforts throughout the company for nearly 14 years, Amoi brings a wealth of experience to the role,” said Mississippi Power CEO Ed Holland. “Her leadership and thorough knowledge of Mississippi Power and the energy industry will be extremely beneficial as we continue to develop energy solutions for the families and communities we serve.”

Geter has held roles of increasing responsibility within Southern Company and its subsidiaries Georgia Power and Southern Nuclear. Before joining Mississippi Power, as media relations, internal and executive communications manager, she served as communications manager at Southern Nuclear.

Geter also has more than seven years of experience as an executive news producer for the NBC television affiliate in Birmingham, Ala. where she won various television news awards, including an Emmy for Outstanding Achievement in Live News Coverage.

A native of Birmingham, Geter graduated from the University of Montevallo with a bachelor of science in mass communication.
