Mississippi Power will help introduce “The World of Energy” to students during the Pathways2Possibilites career expo November 13 and 14 at the Coast Convention Center in Biloxi.

P2P is an interactive expo for eighth-graders to experience the worlds of different career pathways and participate in hands-on activities.

Mississippi Power will share the “World of Energy” with Coast Electric, Singing River Electric and Chevron. Company employees will lead the students through the activities designed to inspire them to further explore careers in energy-related fields.

“We are excited that the company will be a part of P2P,” said Ann Holland, Workforce and Education Development representative, who is helping coordinate Mississippi Power’s role in the event. “This is a wonderful opportunity for students to experience different career fields and how the pathways tie into the state’s new Common Core standards.”

Students will select eight of the 19 pathways in P2P. Not only will they participate in the hands-on activities in each pathway, but they will also meet professionals who work in the different career fields and have the opportunity to ask questions.

In addition to energy, the pathways include:
• Architecture and construction
• Arts, A/V technology and communication
• Business management and administration
• Education and training
• Finance
• Health sciences
• Hospitality and tourism
• Information technology
• Manufacturing
• Marketing
• Engineering and polymer science
• Aerospace
• Marine science
• Smart performance solutions
